Saanich Cycling Festival

 

Sunday, April 21, 2013

11:00 am - 1:30 pm at the University of Victoria: Lot #10

Cycle the Shelbourne Corridor at the Saanich Cycling Festival

The District of Saanich has partnered with a variety of Community Organizations to present the 4th annual Saanich Cycling Festival on Sunday, April 21 from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. The event features the BIG Family Bike Ride which is a mass participation ride celebrating Earth Day 2013.

The ride will be escorted by the Saanich Police along the Shelbourne Street Corridor.

Participants have two routes to choose from:

HARO WOODS REZONING - OPEN HOUSE (2 DATES)

Open Houses for the rezoning of Haro Woods will be held on Feb. 20 from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm and on Feb. 23 from 10:00 to 2:00 pm at Goward House. If approved the rezoning would allow the CRD to build an underground attenuation tank and to zone the remainder of the lands for natural park.

GHRA members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

 

Saanich Boulevard Tree Planting Partnership Project

 

 

Project Description:

In 2011 and beyond, Saanich Parks is seeking the participation of neighbourhood organizations to partner with Saanich Parks Urban Forestry Section (Saanich) to increase the number of trees planted on the boulevards within our neighbourhoods.

Busy times in Gordon Head

This past weekend was a busy one in Gordon Head. Starting with UVic's 50th anniversary celebration, which took place in the grassy area at the center of the university grounds. It was a very well attended event and fun was had by all.

  

The Gordon Head Residents' Association was there, and held a draw for a Starbucks gift certificate. Maria-Luisa, a Gordon Head resident won the prize (see below):

Do I Live in Gordon Head?

The Gordon Head Local Area lies north of McKenzie Avenue and east of the Blenkinsop Valley. The University of Victoria is located partly within Gordon Head along the east boundary. The local area is dominated physically by Mt. Douglas, the coastline, and the central plateau.
